The NAFI/NFPA
cosponsored ADVANCED NATIONAL FIRE, ARSON & EXPLOSION FIRE
INVESTIGATION TRAINING PROGRAM is the only truly advanced
program designed to meet the needs of both the newest
investigator, as well as to enhance the knowledge of the most
experienced investigator.
This class is
different. Other courses claim to be “advanced” without ever
really delving deeply into the most important subjects. This
year we’re presenting a new approach to advanced fire
investigation training. We’ve asked our most
popular, internationally recognized,
instructors to select topics within their areas of
specialty about which they are most passionate. This course
will consist of a smaller number of lectures presented in
greater detail.
This year’s advanced
program will focus on specialized investigative techniques and
issues following the precepts of the National Fire Code, NFPA
921 - 2008, The Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations
covering these advanced topics:
• Fire Investigation
Dynamics
• "Negative Corpus"
• Fire Patterns
Research
• Fire Dynamics for
the Investigator
• Update of NFPA 921 - 2008
• The Ten Most Common Fire Scene Errors
• Advanced Origin Determination Systems
• Legal Aspects of NFPA 921 and 1033
While all levels
of investigators, from the newest to the most experienced, will
benefit from these lectures, this class is not designed or
intended to be a broad entry level review of NFPA 921.
All technical
speakers are members of the NFPA Technical Committee on Fire
Investigations or its Task Groups.
Nowhere else can the fire and explosion investigator meet and
learn from these acknowledged experts in their fields, all
gathered together for one training program.
These specialized
topics are a perfect compliment to the National Seminar on Fire
Analysis Litigation. [Read More]
Certified Fire and Explosion
Investigator Examination
While, certainly,
many of the concepts discussed in the class will be covered on
the CFEI exam, we encourage all CFEI candidates to conduct
independent study of NFPA 921, 2008 edition, in preparation for
the CFEI exam. Because of the more specialized nature of this
advanced class, students should expect to hear information in
class that will not be on the CFEI exam and to be tested on
material that has not necessarily been presented in class.
The CFEI
examination will be offered by the National Certification Board
in conjunction with this NAFI-sponsored training program. In order to sit for the CFEI exam each
applicant must meet the requirements of the National
Certification Board (by application review), be a
NAFI member, and must pay the required application fee of
$75.00* (this is a 40% discount off the regular fee).
